Strong Cold Front, Temps In 50s Headed To Illinois
The weather service said the cold period will likely result in the season's first freeze on Friday night for many areas outside of Chicago.
ILLINOIS — Mild weather with temperatures in the 70s will continue through mid-week, before a cold front moves through the area on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
Tuesday will have a high of 74, Wednesday a high of 75 and Thursday a high of 73. There is a chance of rain. on Thursday, and it will be windy with gusts as high as 25 mph, according to the weather service.
The weather service said on its Twitter that the average last 70-degree day is in late October, but chances of 70 degrees on any given day rapidly fall this month.

The cold front will arrive across the area on Thursday, and much cooler weather will move in on Friday, the weather service said.
The high on Friday is only 53 degrees, and lows on Friday night are 30 degrees.

AccuWeather also calls for a chilly Friday, with a high of 55 degrees. The forecaster said it will be "breezy and cooler" and that a "jacket may come in handy."
AccuWeather said Friday night will have a low of 38, and will be the coldest night since last spring.
