Dangerous Heat Continues, Waves Of Severe Storms Possible To End The Week In Chicago Area

Dangerous heat is expected again on Wednesday, as peak heat index values could hit 110. A heat advisory is in effect from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday for the entire Chicago area.

The combination of high temperatures in the low 90s and high humidity will make it feel above 100 degrees, according to the weather service. The high for Wednesday is 95 degrees, and 93 on Thursday.

There is an elevated excessive heat risk on Wednesday and a limited storm risk on Wednesday night.

The heat may continue into Thursday and Friday, especiallly south of Interstate 80, the weather service said.

Waves of severe storms are also possible through the Chicago area Thursday through Saturday. Thursday has an elevated storm risk with a level 1 of 5 severe storm risk.

Tuesday's heat brought high heat index values across the Chicago area, with Romeoville topping the charts with a heat index of 117, according to the weather service.

DeKalb had a heat index of 111, and Sugar Grove a heat index of 106.
