Body Found In Illinois Storage Unit: Police

Inside a storage unit in Belvidere was the body of a man, possibly in his early 50s, according to police.

BELVIDERE, IL — Police found a body Tuesday in a Belvidere storage unit, according to authorities.

Boone County sheriff’s deputies came upon a suspicious vehicle about 2:40 a.m. in the parking lot of a storage unit business in the 6800 block of Belford Industrial Park, police said. Upon further inspection, they discovered an open unit near the vehicle, according to police. Inside was the dead body of a man, possibly in his early 50s, police said.

A preliminary investigation did not indicate an obvious cause of death, according to police. The case is being handled by the Boone County sheriff’s and coroner’s offices.
