Fall Storm System To Bring Storms, Rainy Week To Chicago Area

Rain is possible starting Wednesday through the end of the week. You also might want to cover your plants to protect them from frost.

ILLINOIS — The work week will start off dry, before rain and storms move into the area starting Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday and Tuesday will be sunny, with highd of 59 and 61, respectively. The weather service said areas of frost are possible across portions of northern Illinois early Monday, mostly north of Interstate 88 away from the core of the Chicago area.

Additional frost will also be possible Monday night into Tuesday for portions of northern Illinois away from the Chicago metro.

A fall storm system is on track to move through the area toward the end of the week, the weather service said. The system will bring increasing chances for showers and a few storms.

Wednesday has a high of 63, Thursday a high of 70 and Friday a high of 66 degrees, the weather service said. Rain is possible Wednesday, followed by a chance of storms on Wednesday night through Friday.
