Fire Risk Friday, Rain, Temps Near 80 This Weekend In IL

ILLINOIS — Temperatures close to 80 degrees are expected for the weekend in Illinois, according to the National Weather Service.

The low humidity and winds up to 35 mph will also lead to an elevated fire risk on Friday afternoon, the weather service said. Residents should avoid burning and be careful with open flames.

The elevated fire threat is for northeastern Illinois, especially areas south of Interstate 88, the weather service said.

The weekend will be sunny and mostly dry, with a high of 77 degrees on Saturday and Sunday, according to the weather service. There is a chance of showers late Sunday into Monday, after 1 a.m.

The unseasonable warmth will continue into the work week, with a high of 76 expected on Monday, according to the weather service. Temperatures will start to cool slightly Tuesday, which has an expected high of 68.

AccuWeather is also calling for warm temperatures and said Saturday will be "partly sunny and very warm." Sunday will also be warm, followed by "a couple of showers late" on Sunday night, according to the private forecaster.
