Forest Preserve cancels Friday events due to unhealthy air quality

The Forest Preserve District of Will County has canceled two Friday events due to unhealthy air quality.
Both the Surf-N-Turf Concert at Monee Reservoir in Monee Township and the Kickin' It at Iron Works at Joliet Iron Works Historic Site in Joliet have been canceled.
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has issued a Red Forecast Air Pollution Action Day for today, July 17, due to a forecast of Unhealthy Red category particulates caused by wildfire smoke.

The Illinois Department of Public Health advises those with health issues – heart or lung conditions, older adults, pregnant women, children, and anyone who works or spends long hours outdoors – to take these steps:
- Stay indoors, especially if you have heart or lung disease, and keep windows closed
- Limit time outdoors if you can't avoid working or other outdoor activities
- Recirculate air in your car and home air conditioning
- Use an air purifier indoors
- Wear a high-quality N-95 or N-100 mask
- Stay hydrated
