Daily Snow Chances Through The Weekend, Below Zero Wind Chill For Chicago Area

The Friday evening commute may be affected by snow, with reduced visibility and slushy accumulation.

Another round of snow is expected Friday evening as we begin a week of wintry weather for the Chicago area.

The National Weather Service said scattered snow showers will start to develop on Friday afternoon, and spread into northern Illinois and northwest Indiana.

The main accumulation window will be between 5 and 9 p.m., according to the weather service. Localized slushy accumulations up to 1 inch are possible.

"...Reduced visibility will still lead to a slowed evening commute," the weather service said.

There will also be chances for snow on Saturday afternoon into the evening, and Sunday afternoon into the evening, according to the weather service.

"Much colder air" is also expected through the middle of next week, the weather service said. The high for Saturday will be 21 degrees, and 22 degrees on Sunday.

The coldest temperatures are expected Sunday night through Tuesday morning. According to the weather service, wind chills may approach 20 below zero early Monday, and remain below zero late Monday into Tuesday.

FRIDAY: Snow showers likely, mainly after 5 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 35. West southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Snow showers likely, mainly before 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

SATURDAY: A 20 percent chance of snow after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 19. Wind chill values as low as 1. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

SATURDAY NIGHT: A chance of flurries before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 9. Wind chill values as low as -4. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

SUNDAY: A 20 percent chance of snow after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 20. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

SUNDAY NIGHT: A 20 percent chance of snow before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 3. Blustery.

MONDAY: Partly sunny and cold, with a high near 9. Blustery.

MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 2.
