High Fire Danger Friday Afternoon, Cooler Temps For The Weekend In IL
Due to gusts up to 40 mph and dry conditions, there is an elevated fire danger across most of the area.

ILLINOIS — A chillier weekend with temps in the 50s is expected for the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.
Friday will be warmer with a high of 61 degrees before "unseasonably cold" temperatures move in, the weather service said. Friday afternoon will also have an increased fire danger across the area as weather will be dry and windy.
Gusty winds up to 40 mph are possible Friday afternoon, and there will be a high fire danger south of the Kankakee River Valley and an elevated fire danger for the rest of the area.

Scattered showers are expected tonight, as temperatures drop into the 30s on Friday night, according to the weather service.

The weekend looks to be sunny and dry, with a high of 55 degrees on Saturday and a high of 58 on Sunday.

The colder temperatures will stick around into the work week as well, as a high of 46 degrees is expected on Monday, according to the weather service.
Lows will drop into the 30s on both Saturday and Sunday night, and possibly even into the 20s on Monday night.
