Storms Possible, Hot Temps Before 70s Return To The Chicago Area

There is a chance of rain and storms on Tuesday, plus a heat index up to 100 degrees.

ILLINOIS — One more day of hot and humid weather is expected Tuesday, before temperatures cool back to the 70s, according to the National Weather Service.

The high for Tuesday is 93 degrees, and afternoon peak heat indices could be between 95 and 100 degrees, the weather service said. There is also a chance for showers and storms Tuesday, with the best chances east of Interstate 55.

Wednesday will still be warmer with a high of 87 degrees, but temperatures will cool even more behind a cold front which will move through late Tuesday into Wednesday, according to the weather service.

"Temperatures cool down behind the front to more seasonable values, with only warming over the weekend during a quieter, drier weather period," the weather service said.

Thursday and Friday both have a high of 76 degrees, according to the weather service. Both days look to be dry and sunny.
