Illinois School Districts Take Top Spots On Best Districts List

School districts were ranked based on funding, student performance, dropout rate and poverty rate.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A new ranking by the the National Council for Home Safety and Security put two Illinois school districts at the top of the list of the Top 500 School Districts In America for 2018. Naperville Community Unit School District 203 and Morton Community Unit School District 709 were ranked at No. 1 and 2, respectively, and numerous other Illinois districts also snagged spots on the list.

The list, published on Alarms.org, ranks districts based on factors including school funding, student performance, dropout rate and poverty rate.

Naperville's District 203 has "a high amount of revenue, stellar test scores, and a near nonexistent dropout rate," and is consistently ranked among the best in the country, according to the council.

Morton, on the other hand, has "has low poverty and dropout rates, excellent funding and test scores only slightly below that of Naperville CUSD 203," according to the rankings.
