Labor Day Weekend Weather: Storms Possible, Some Sunshine In IL

The unofficial end of summer will feature lots of sunshine, with a chance of storms on Saturday.

ILLINOIS — Labor Day weekend will feature plenty of sunshine, although there is a chance of scattered showers and storms, especially on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Storms are possible Saturday, with the best chances northwest of Interstate 55, according to the weather service. The high for the day is 87 degrees, but a cold front will bring falling temperatures through the afternoon.

AccuWeather also called for "a thunderstorm in spots in the afternoon" on Saturday, and gave a 24 percent chance of storms.

On Sunday, a few storms and showers are possible, and temps will be cooler with a high of 81 degrees, the weather service said.

AccuWeather gave a 1 percent chance of storms on Sunday, and a 25 percent chance of precipitation.

Monday should be sunny with a high of 82, and when the work week begins on Tuesday, weather should remain dry as well, according to the weather service forecast.
