Labor Day Weekend Brings 90s, Hot And Sunny Weather To Chicago Area

Friday may be the first day of meteorological fall, but summer heat will return for Labor Day weekend.

ILLINOIS — Although cool, fall-like temperatures are expected Thursday night, a hot and sunny Labor Day weekend is forecast, according to the National Weather Service.

Lows will fall into the 40s on Thursday night, before the warmth arrives for the weekend.

"Unseasonably hot and sunny conditions" are expected, the weather service said. Highs in the 90s are forecast, but it will not be as humid as it was during the heat wave last week.

"The less humid air mass should make for more comfortable conditions in the evening through early morning over the holiday weekend," according to the weather service.

Friday, which is also the first day of September and the beginning of meteorological fall, will have a high of 85. Saturday will have a high of 91, Sunday a high of 95, and Monday a high of 95, according to the weather service.

Heat will also continue into Tuesday, which will have a high of 95.
