Kyle Kehe got this great shot of a coyote standing atop a grassy hill looking for prey at Fabyan Forest Preserve in Geneva.

Laura M. sent us this photo she took with a drone of the Mack Manor Christmas display on Algonquin Road, west of Fox River Grove. Laura and Dave Mack have been decorating for Halloween and Christmas and having visitors drive through their display.

Sue Marines, of Glenview, and local birdwatcher groups have been keeping an eye on this pelican at the Skokie Lagoon. Marines, who took the photo, said the pelican was at the lagoon for about two weeks and she thinks it may have been rescued by the Cook County Forest Preserve.

David Fitzgerald sent us this photo recently in downtown Chicago while on a lunch break. "I work in the ticket office at The Lyric Opera and we were between shows for 'The Nutcracker,' It was taken from the Washington Street bridge," Fitzgerald tells us.

Tony Smith took this photograph facing the town hall in the Shorewood Towne Center from his front porch.

Vanessa Griffin got this great nature photograph of a young deer at Heritage Park Forest Preserve in Oak Forest.

Ron Kapala was at the Brookfield Zoo recently and grabbed his camera to photograph this non-captive eagle, who was above the bald eagle display.
