Al Benson sent us this sports photo he got of Aurora University senior center Atem Chol. The 7-foot-1 player is a native of South Sudan in northeast Africa. Aurora won the season-opener over Eureka College, 86-61.

Linda Elnatour took this photo of Raheem, dressed as Spider-Man, for Halloween in Worth. "He's got spidey powers," Elnatour said.

Jeanne Eddy, who was hiking at the time with her son, shot this great nature photo at Starved Rock State Park.

Sue Marines sent us this photograph she took of a Great White pelican at Skokie Lagoon. She said she's hoping the pelican is a "temporary visitor" as she thinks it may have got lost from its pod while migrating south. "It is being monitored by local bird groups in case it needs rescue," Marines said. She called the pelican "beautiful and larger than Canadian Geese."
