Lightning, Heavy Rain With Scattered Storms Thursday Morning

Storms will move out of the area by early Thursday afternoon. Expect hot and humid weather to start next week.

ILLINOIS — Scattered storms are possible Thursday morning, as a line of storms moves southeast across the area, according to the National Weather Service.

Severe weather isn't expected, but the storms will bring occasional lightning strikes and brief, heavy downpours, the weather service said. Most of the Chicago area will see storms between 6 and 9 a.m., before storms push into Indiana in the 9 a.m. to noon time period.

A few afternoon storms could develop east of Interstate 57, and could bring damaging wind gusts.

Weather for the weekend looks to be dry and sunny. Friday has a high of 80 degrees, Saturday a high of 85 and Sunday a high of 93, according to the weather service.

Hot and humid weather conditions are expected Sunday and into the work week, the weather service said.
