Highland Park Shooting Defendant Declines To Show Up To Court Hearing
The accused shooter skipped his first court date since his plea reversal, as families of the victims sue Illinois State Police for $58 million. At a case management conference, defense attorneys for Robert "Bobby" Crimo III notified Lake County Circuit Judge Victoria Rossetti that Crimo had declined to leave his cell and asked for his presence to be waived.
Emonte Morgan was convicted of first-degree murder for killing Officer French on Aug. 7, 2021, during a traffic stop. Morgan was found guilty in March. Cook County Criminal Court Judge Ursula Walowski sentenced Morgan in a courtroom at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse Wednesday.

Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Film Will Not Show At North Shore Library
Library officials announced Wednesday that "Israelism," a documentary film about the conflict, is no longer on the schedule. The screening of the film was condemned by the Chicago Jewish Alliance, among others. The film was to be followed by a question and answer session with Jewish and Palestinian/Muslim activists.
Student Choking On Pizza Saved By Eichelberger Elementary Nurse: D202
The Eichelberger Elementary School nurse was filling in at JFK Middle School when the choking incident occurred, officials said. Nurse Mena Powell was "in the right place at the right time," having been filling in on nursing needs next door to her home elementary school when the student began choking. Officials did not say when the incident occurred but shared a news release with the story on Monday.

Man Charged With Murder In Shooting Death Of Wife In Warrenville
Steven Kramer, 39, has been charged with first degree murder in the death of Jaime Neumann, 47. Officers were called to Kramer's home around 11 a.m. for a report that someone had suffered cardiac arrest, according to prosecutors. When they got to the scene, police were confronted by Kramer, who said his wife was upstairs.
$3 Million Lottery Ticket Sold In Channahon To Morris Woman
"My local gas station had a brand new game on display, so I bought three tickets." The winning ticket was purchased at a Circle K gas station and convenience store, located at 26950 W. Eames in Channahon. The winner said it was the longest weekend of her life, not being able to confirm if she was holding a winning ticket.
