Grizzly Jack's Waterpark Closed After Fire
The hotel, located near Starved Rock, remains open.

UTICA, IL — llinois' first indoor waterpark is closed after a five-alarm fire at Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Resort in Utica. The resort posted a message to guests saying that the "small fire"was contained to the waterpark and that while Grand Bear Falls Indoor Waterpark is closed for assessment and repairs, the hotel remains open.
"The resort's lodging areas did not sustain any damage," according to the Grizzly Jack's website. "For guest with reservations during this time that included the waterpark, cancellations are permitted and are fully refundable. We look forward to reopening the waterpark as soon as possible for the enjoyment of our valued guests. We appreciate your understanding."
The LaSalle County Sheriff's office said no injuries were reported after the Tuesday morning blaze, which was reported around 5 a.m., according to WGN.

During the fire, flames and thick smoke could be seen in live WGN video from the scene, where the fire department reportedly requested salt trucks to be brought in due to the frigid weather.
The resort has been open since 2005.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
