Snow Accumulation Possible Late Thursday For Chicago Area

The weather service said potential accumulation is between 1 and 2 inches of snow.

ILLINOIS — A mix of rain and snow late Thursday into Friday could bring slushy wet snow accumulations in far northern Illinois, according to the National Weather Service.

Areas north of Interstate 88 and especially close to the Illinois-Wisconsin border are most likely to see minor accumulations, the weather service said.

Rain will move into the area late Thursday into early Friday. The rain may mix with snow across northern Illinois, the weather service said.

Travel could be affected by the wet snow, again mainly north of I-88.

AccuWeather gave a forecast of little to no accumulation on Friday. The private forecaster gave a 63 percent chance for little to no accumulation, and a 34 percent chance for a coating of snow to 2 inches.

There is also a second chance for rain and wet snow on Saturday afternoon. Saturday will have a high of 41 degrees, according to the weather service.
