Missing Illinois Teen Found Dead Along Rural Road

SPRING VALLEY, IL — A 16-year-old Illinois girl was found dead Saturday in rural Putnam County, several days after she was reported missing. Diamond Bradley, of Spring Valley, was last seen at around 10 p.m. Jan. 23 and was reported missing the next day, according to reports. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office said a body found in a ditch along a road in Granville Township Saturday has been identified as the teen, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Putnam County authorities said Bradley died of multiple injuries, and the case is being investigated as a homicide.

Putnam County Sheriff Kevin Doyle declined to release more details on Bradley's death on Monday, saying he will issue additional information"when it's time," according to the Illinois Valley News Tribune. Her body was found just before 1 p.m. Saturday along County Highway 850 North.

Putnam County Coroner Bobby Cofoid said autopsy results as well as toxicology results are pending and could take as long as six weeks to be completed, according to the News Tribune.

An autopsy was performed Sunday, the Chicago Tribune reported.

An ice cream parlor in Spring Valley on Sunday said it is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest in Bradley's death. In a Facebook post, Grandma Rosie's did not specify the amount of the reward, but said, "We will not allow someone to treat a beautiful human being like this and get away with it! The community has to rally to support them, even if you don’t know the family, because that’s what we do and that’s what makes small town living great. "

Hall Hall School in Spring Valley, where Bradley attended school, issued a statement Monday saying the community is "deeply shocked and saddened" by her death. " We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends," the school said in an announcement, adding that grief counseling would be available to students this week.
