Jeff Grigg, of New Lenox, sent us this great shot he got of a mushroom.
Kathleen Brant photographed this great egret at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle. "The great egret was just taking off from the water because a red-winged blackbird was dive-bombing him/her. Apparently there was a nest in the area," Brant said.

Pauline N, of Lemont, said she found this Carolina sphinx caterpillar munching away on some tomato leaves in her garden and got out the camera. "I must say it scared me at first sight! The kids next door are thrilled to have a new pet," Pauline told us.

Juliet Dunmeyer, of Cary, photographed this upside-down squirrel in her backyard. "Since the weather was so hot, I decided to grab a pine cone and put peanut butter on it and roll it in bird seed. Within one hour he appeared and ate it up," Dunmeyer said
