Bitter Cold To End In Warmup, Possible Rain For Chicago Area

Rain is also possible later in the week, especially south of I-80.

ILLINOIS — Cold temperatures will last throughout Tuesday, before a warm-up on Wednesday brings temps in the 40s back to the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.

The high for Tuesday is only 27 degrees. Morning wind chills on Tuesday morning were in the single digits, according to the weather service.

"Temperatures will moderate on Wednesday with highs back in the 40s by Thursday when chances of rain will return," the weather service said.

Wednesday has a high of 42 degrees, Thursday a high of 46 and Friday a high of 42.

There is a chance of rain on Thursday afternoon, and winds could gust as high as 25 mph, according to the weather service. Rain chances continue into Thursday night and Friday morning.

The weather service said there remains uncertainty with rain chances, but the best chances favor areas along and south of Interstate 80.

A chance of rain also looks to continue into the weekend, according to the current forecast. Temps will remain in the 40s on Saturday and Sunday.
