Pritzker Calls For Trump's Removal Over 'Whole Civilization Will Die Tonight' Post Regarding Iran
President Donald Trump said "one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World" will occur Tuesday night.
Following a social media post by President Donald Trump Tuesday threatening Iran by saying a "whole civilization will die tonight," Gov. JB Pritzker and others are calling from his removal from office by invoking the 25th Amendment.
"This is not foreign policy, it's a deranged mad man threatening to wipe out an entire country," Pritzker said in a social media reply to Trump's earlier remarks. "It's past time. The 25th Amendment must be invoked."
CNN is reporting Trump has imposed a 7 p.m. (Central Time) deadline for Iran to make a deal and open the Strait of Hormuz.

In Trump's threat, which was posted to his Truth Social account at around 7 a.m., the president said "one of the most important messages in the long and complex history of the World" will occur Tuesday night if Iran doesn't surrender in its ongoing conflict with the United States. The direct military conflict between the U.S./Israel and Iran began five weeks ago on Feb. 28.
In its own statement regarding the comments, House Democrats are calling for lawmakers to return to session immediately and vote to end the war.

"His statement threatening to eradicate an entire civilization shocks the conscience and requires a decisive congressional response," leadership of the Democratic caucus said in a joint statement released Thursday afternoon.
Among other things, the 25th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution allows the vice president and most of the cabinet to declare the president incapacitated or unable to act, placing the vice president in power. Ratified in 1967 in response to President John F. Kennedy's assassination four years earlier, the amendment has never been invoked.
"As a leader during the very first impeachment proceedings, I look forward to seeing the President in the hearing room," said Congressman Mike Quigley (Illinois 5th District). "I'm encouraging all Democrats and Republicans to stand together and stand up for common sense."
Senate Republicans are seemingly supporting Trump's post, saying Tuesday, "Iran would be wise to take President Trump at his word. They can choose the easy way or the hard way."
