Pritzker Reacts To VP Pick, Lauds Walz's 'Big Heart,' Midwestern Hard Work

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz was selected Tuesday to be part of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris' ticket.

ILLINOIS — Gov. JB Pritzker, who had also been considered for the spot, is lauding the choice of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to be on the Democratic ticket as vice president, along with presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

The Associated Press is reporting Walz will be with Harris Tuesday night at a rally in Philadelphia.

"Governor Tim Walz is a proven leader who brings to public service the big heart and the hard work of a Midwesterner," Pritzker said Tuesday.

Last week, it was reported Pritzker had several vetting meetings with Harris' team. Harris won enough votes from Democratic delegates to win the nomination Friday, according to the Democratic National Committee. The DNC will hold its convention later this month (Aug. 19-22) in Chicago.

"Tim is a friend and fellow Midwestern governor, and I've been proud to serve alongside him," Pritzker said of Walz, who has been governor of Minnesota since 2019.
