Pumpkin Patches, Corn Mazes In Chicago-Area: Fall 2022 Guide

Deciding what activities to enjoy this fall? Patch has compiled a list of pumpkin patches and corn mazes to visit in the Chicago area.

ILLINOIS — The fall equinox is just around the corner — Sept. 22 to be exact. With crisp weather and changing leaves comes the time for pumpkin patches and corn mazes.

There is no shortage of farms and orchards to visit this fall, so to help with the search, Patch has compiled a list of our favorite patches in and around the Chicago area.

Sonny Acres Farm in West Chicago

  • Address: 29W310 North Ave. in West Chicago
  • Season: Sept. 17 to Oct. 31
  • Attractions: The Sonny Express, self-feed zoo, pony rides, sweet shop, haunted hayride and haunted barn (starting in October)
  • Hours of operation: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Closed Mondays.
  • Cost: Prices vary by day and activity.

Kroll's Fall Harvest Farm

  • Address: 13236 W. Town Line Road in Waukegan
  • Season: Sept. 17 to Oct. 31
  • Attractions: Hayride, corn maze (this year's theme is animals on the farm), petting zoo
  • Hours of operation: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Friday and 1-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Open by appointment Saturday and Sunday.
  • Cost: No general admission is required weekdays, but activities range from $4-$11. On weekends and Columbus Day, three-hour timed admission costs $14 for adults (ages 13 and up) and $12 for children (ages 3-12). No tickets required for ages 2 and under.

Didier Farms

  • Address: 16678 W. Aptakisic Road in Lincolnshire
  • Season: Sept. 17 to Oct. 30
  • Attractions: Pig races (weekends only), Animal Land Zoo, pumpkin playland, kids activities, bake shop, concessions.
  • Hours of operation: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily
  • Cost: There is no admission fee. Tickets are available for purchase at $1 per ticket. Most attractions and rides are under 6 tickets.

Goebbert's Farm and Garden Center - South Barrington

  • Address: 40 W. Higgins Road in South Barrington
  • Season: Sept. 10 to 3 p.m. Oct 30.
  • Attractions: Animal Land, corn stalk maze, duck derby, pony rides, camel rides, wagon rides, magic show, jumping pillow, pig races, corn box, gem mining and more.
  • Hours of operation: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Halloween hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Cost: Tickets for activities must be purchased online. Entrance to the farm is free of charge, but tickets are required for activities.

Goebbert's Pumpkin Patch & Apple Orchard - Pingree Grove/Hampshire

  • Address: 42W813 Reinking Road in Pingree Grove
  • Season: Sept. 6 to Oct. 31
  • Attractions: Haunted house, kiddie playland, giant pumpkin slide, tire mountain, pumpkin cannon, straw maze, jumping pillow, corn box, pig races and more.
  • Hours of operation: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily
  • Cost: General admission tickets to the fall festival cost $18 per person on weekdays; $22 per person on weekends. Admission for children 2 and under is free.

Stade's Farm & Market

  • Address: 3709 Miller Road in McHenry
  • Season opening date: Sept. 3 to Oct. 30
  • Attractions: Apple cannons, barn and play house, climbing web, corn maze, duck races, petting zoo, pumpkin cannon, slide mountain, tractor pull, zipline and more.
  • Hours of operation: Hours vary by activity.
  • Cost: General admission is $20 for ages 3 to 59, $10 for ages 60 and older and $70 for a season pass. Children age 2 and under are admitted for free.

Kuiper's Family Farm

  • Address: 1N318 Watson Road in Maple Park
  • Season: Sept. 17 to 4 p.m. Oct. 30
  • Attractions: Tractor train, corn maze, pig races, jumping pillow, corn box, tractor tire mountain, pedal tractor derby, haunted forest, hayride, farm animals and more.
  • Hours of operation: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday though Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
  • Cost: Pumpkin included with cost of admission in October. September prices are $16.99 online/$18.99 at the gate on weekends and $13.99 online/$15.99 at the gate weekdays. In October, prices increase to $22.99 online/$24.99 at the gate on weekends and $19.99 online/$21.99 at the gate weekdays. Admission, available only at the gate, for military personnel with ID and seniors 65 and older is $11.99. Free for kids age 2 and younger.

Richardson Adventure Farm

  • Address: 909 English Prairie Road in Spring Grove
  • Season: Sept. 10 to Oct. 30.
  • Attractions: A 28-acre corn maze, 50-foot observation tower, wagon ride, train ride, carousel, slide, zip line, petting zoo, pig race, goat feeding area, jumping pillow, zip line, zorbing, eXtreme Air, gem stone mining, paintball shooting gallery.
  • Hours of operation: 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. Dogs are welcome if they are leashed and well-behaved around others.
  • Cost: Prices vary by event. Check the farm's website.

Abbey Farms

  • Address: 2855 Hart Road in Aurora
  • Season: Sept. 17 to Oct. 30
  • Attractions: Corn maze, balance beam course, bouncing cow train, zip lines, tractor tire hill, jumping pillow, pedal track, tractor/hay wagon ride, antique tractors and petting zoo.
  • Hours of operation: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Closed Monday and Tuesday except Columbus Day.
  • Cost: General admission tickets cost $22 each on weekends and holidays, and $17 on weekdays. Save $2 by booking online. Children 2 and under are free.

Siegel's Cottonwood Farm

  • Address: 17250 Weber Road in Lockport
  • Season: Sept. 24 to Oct. 31
  • Attractions: Famous 10-acre corn maze, slides, straw mountain, climbing web, corn box, tractor ride, farm animals and more.
  • Hours of operation: Open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Cost: $19.95 weekdays and $24.95 weekends and Columbus Day. An all-inclusive weekend pass costs $31.95. Free admission for military/veterans, police and fire with ID.

Bengtson's

  • Address: 13341 W. 151st St. in Homer Glen
  • Season: Sept. 16 to Oct. 30
  • Attractions: Tractor Town, Happy Swing, chicken truck, mega slide, cow coaster, free selfie booth, gemstone and arrowhead mining, pony rides, petting zoo, haunted barn, fun barn.
  • Hours of operation: Open 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; and 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Columbus Day.
  • Cost: Admission ranges from $17.99 to $22.99, depending on the day and time. See the website for more details. Military (active duty or retired) — and a military guest — personnel are admitted free with ID. Pony rides an additional $6. Children 23 months and younger are free. The farm has gone cashless for the 2022 season.

Johansen's Farm

  • Address: 710 W. Boughton Road in Bolingbrook
  • Season: Sept. 15 to Oct. 31
  • Attractions: Petting zoo, mini golf course, pony rides, hayrides, train rides, slides, corn maze, toddler area.
  • Hours of operation (For September): 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily for the zoo and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the fall market, bakery and pumpkin patch.
  • Cost: Weekday prices are $14.95 per person, while weekend prices are $19.95 per person. Entrance for seniors ages 62 and older is $12.95 weekdays and $17.95 weekends. Admission to the zoo is free for veterans and military personnel with valid ID. Entrance to the market area, pumpkin patch and bakery is free for everyone.

Heap's Giant Pumpkin Farm

  • Address: 4853 U.S. Highway 52 in Minooka
  • Season: Sept. 10 to Oct. 31
  • Attractions: Hayrides, pumpkin patch, flashlight maze, giant farm slide, bean maze, farm animals, haunted corn maze, moonlight hayrides and bean maze. Hours vary for different attractions.
  • Hours of operation: 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily.
  • Cost: Weekday admission for people ages 3 and up is $8 per person, while weekend admission is $10 per person. The price includes access to all mazes, playgrounds, hayrides and the U-Pick pumpkin patch. Costs vary for the flashlight maze, haunted corn maze and moonlight hayrides.

Dollinger Family Farm

  • Address: 7420 E. Hansel Road in Channahon
  • Season: Sept. 12 to Oct. 30
  • Attractions: Corn maze, play areas, farm animals, bee barn, corn bin, train rides, hay rides, face painting (some activities only available on weekends).
  • Hours of operation: Farm is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Cost: Admission is free, but some activities cost: $4.50 per person for the corn maze, $9 for full face painting, and $4.50 per person for train ride.

Konow's Corn Maze

  • Address: 16849 S Cedar Road, Homer Glen
  • Season: Sept. 17 to Oct. 31
  • Attractions: Corn maze, animal barn, indoor playland, jumping pillows, straw playground, cow train express, hay rides, pony rides, indoor Western town, climbing webs.
  • Hours of operation: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday; 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
  • Cost: $12 Monday through Friday and $15 Saturday and Sunday, all per person 3 years and older. Admission is free for veterans and military personnel with ID.

Keller's Farmstand

  • Address: 2500 Johnson Road in Oswego
  • Season: Sept. 10 through Oct. 30
  • Attractions: Vampire-themed corn maze, tire stacks, farm animals, play house with slippery slide, rope and brick mazes, interactive mime performances, apple orchard, pumpkin patches, fresh produce, fall garden decor.
  • Hours of operation: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For holiday hours, call 630-219-8194.
