Rain, ‘October-Like’ Temps Next Week For Chicago Area

First, a "splendid" weekend is in store before rain moves in on Monday.

ILLINOIS — A "splendid weekend" is in store for the Chicago area this weekend, before early October-like temperatures are expected for the start of the work week, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday and Sunday will be "a great weekend for outdoor activities," the weather service said. Saturday will have a high of 78 and Sunday a high of 81. Both days are expected to be dry and mostly sunny.

After the weekend, however, "big changes" are on the way, the weather service said.

A slow-moving frontal system will bring cooler temperatures with rain on Monday. Tuesday will feel like October, and there is again a chance of isolated to scattered showers, according to the weather service.

The high for Monday will be 78, and the high for Tuesday is 72.

The cooler temperatures also look to continue, as the high for Wednesday is forecast at 68 degrees and Thursday at 70 degrees, according to the weather service.
