Tornadoes, Hail, Wind Possible With Friday Severe Storms For Illinois

ILLINOIS — Severe weather is possible Friday afternoon, as thunderstorms are possible for the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service said a few rounds of storms are possible across the area on Friday morning, and late Friday afternoon into the evening. Severe storms are possible, especially during the afternoon and evening.

The main threats with the storms are damaging winds and heavy rain, which could cause some flooding. Tornadoes are also possible.

The weather service said that if storm coverage is "extensive" on Friday morning, then it could limit new storms later in the day. Storms that develop during the afternoon and evening would pose the greatest severe threat.
