Tornado, Severe Storms Possible For IL Before Sunny, Dry Weekend

Damaging hail and winds are the primary threats on Friday, but an isolated tornado can't be ruled out, the weather service said.

ILLINOIS — Severe storms are possible Friday, before weather dries out and is sunny for most of the weekend, according to the National Weather Service. The highest storm risk is between 1 and 7 p.m.

The weather service said storms are possible Friday afternoon and overnight, which could be strong to severe. Damaging hail and winds are the primary threats, but an isolated tornado can't be ruled out, according to the weather service.

After storms move out of the area, then conditions should dry out for most of the weekend, the weather service said. Saturday has a high of 86 degrees, and Sunday has a high of 83.

Saturday should be completely dry, while the next storm system will bring a chance of showers and storms on Sunday night into Monday, according to the weather service.

Monday will have a high of 77 degrees, and showers are possible in the morning.
