Showers, Storms Could Dampen Part Of Weekend In IL: NWS

Temperatures could top 80 degrees Saturday, before cooling off a bit on a mostly dry Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

ILLINOIS — While the weekend weather is predicted to be "mostly pleasant," the National Weather Service is warning of some evening showers and storms Saturday night. Temperatures could top 80 degrees Saturday before the storms roll in, and they drop for Sunday.

NWS said Sunday looks dry, with temperatures between 63 and 71 degrees during the day, and cooler near the lakeshore.

Rain and storms are expected to return Monday, mainly south of Interstate 80.

Three days into May, NWS reflected on the previous month, saying April featured above average temperatures across northern and central Illinois and extreme northwest Indiana. In addition, precipitation was above average near and south of I-88, with near to below average precipitation north of I-88.

The average temperature at Chicago O'Hare International Airport was 52.7 degrees, good for the 15th warmest April on record.
