Why are you seeking this office?

I wanted to run for the office of Secretary of State since 2008. I am concerned about who will protect our voting rights, our driving privileges, and who will use this office to its full potential. I believe that I share the concerns of many citizens across Illinois. We do not need politician jumping from seat to seat. We need real change. Illinois needs a public servant, not another politician. It seems that in most cases when a candidate is elected the roles changes. Now the politician becomes a leader and the constituents becomes the servant. That is not how it suppose to work in government. lets get government back on track and vote for a citizen not a politician.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.

I have traveled across this state and spoke to many about their concerns and the single most pressing issue was, not having access to affordable service. What I am saying is we must keep the SOS office and facilities operating (even through another pandemic) through optimizing tech and self-service stations. The cost of licensing, driver's license, and plates and stickers are among the highest in the country. I will reach out to the general assembly so that we can find a way not to raise fees on any current or new services rendered to our constituents.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

The difference between myself and the other candidates is that I am connected to the people. I understand what many demographics are concerned with because I lived on almost every side of town in Chicago and in other cities across Illinois. For the last 30 years I have worked as an entrepreneur and business owner and have employed hundreds through the years. Age is important because it brings on wisdom. Wisdom alone has taught me the do's and don't in life so I respect wisdom.

How would you characterize the events of Jan. 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol?

As an African American, we are used to handling outrage and descent. I believe that the American way to do something about a situation in life that you may disagree with is to assemble peacefully and wait for justice to prevail

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Streamline the SOS facilities/DMV, Organ donations, protecting voters rights, total customer service, road safety and high fees.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

Advocating and successfully bringing union representation for employees at at least 2 companies. Transforming a regular tire shop into a company that held over 700 accounts, TransAmerica being one of the largest with over 45,000 tractor and trailers. Organizing and producing some of the biggest events in Chicago. Help build up the economic base in one of the oldest cities in Miami Florida called (Overtown) in the city of Overtown, Florida. Executive director of a not for profit, and CEO of Go platinum entertainment and marketing.

What was your first paying job, and what did you learn from it?

When I was 10 years old my first paid job was a Paper boy- What I learned was that customer service is very important and that customers were always right. Making sure that our service was on time and that people/subscriber got their newspapers delivered to their door each and everyday. At the SOS DMV facilities, the citizens of Illinois are customers. They pay for plates, stickers and licensing and they expect good timely service.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

To Watch, Pray, Read my bible, tend to my own business, and do not judge others for you may be judge.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I am not running for the office of Secretary of State for any personal gratifications or having a large ego. I am running because I genuinely care about all citizen of this great state. It has been said that a person who sincerely wants to do good will not be elected. I believe that the citizens of this great state are tired of the same suit and ties, politicians moving from one seat to another. People want a real public servant. I want to help build a better Secretary of State for the people and push for a better tomorrow with technology leading the way while preserving jobs.
