Snow, Sleet, Rain: Winter Weather Advisories Issued For Chicago Area
The Thursday morning and afternoon commutes will be impacted by wintry weather on Thursday.
ILLINOIS — The Chicago area is under winter weather advisories as snow and a wintry mix is expected on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
North of the city, the Waukegan area in Lake County is under a winter storm warning as total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches are expected, the weather service said. Winds could also gust up to 40 mph.
The rest of the area, including Aurora, Chicago and Joliet, is under a winter weather advisory as snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected, according to the weather service.

AccuWeather said Joliet will see "brief showers in the morning following by a bit of snow and rain at times in the afternoon" on Thursday. The private forecaster gave a prediction of .2 inches of rain, and .1 inch of snow on Thursday, with another inch of snow possible on Thursday night.
Precipitation will end Thursday evening for most of the area, and temperatures will have fallen below freezing by then, the weather service said.
Friday should be dry and sunny, although colder than the more mild temperatures so far this week, with a high of 27 degrees, the weather service said.
