Storms Possible For Chicago Area As Spring-Like Warmth Continues

A few non-severe storms are possible Tuesday night.

After record-breaking warmth on Monday, the mild temperatures will continue through the middle of the week, before a cold front "delivers more seasonable temperatures," according to the National Weather Service.

With the warmth, there are chances for showers and even a thunderstorm this week, the weather service said. There is a chance for non-severe storms Tuesday night, as well as on Thursday.

Tuesday's high will be 60 degrees, followed by a high of 67 on Wednesday and 65 on Thursday.

Dry and windy conditions are expected on Wednesday, bringing concerns for elevated fire weather, according to the weather service.

A cold front will bring cooler temps on Friday, which has a high of 46, according to the current forecast.

TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. South southeast wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Showers likely before midnight, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between midnight and 3 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 a.m. Cloudy, with a steady temperature around 54. South wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

WEDNESDAY: Sunny, with a high near 65. Breezy, with a west southwest wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Increasing clouds, with a low around 41. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southeast after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

THURSDAY: A 50 percent chance of rain, mainly after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 62. Southeast wind 5 to 15 mph.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

FRIDAY: A slight chance of rain before noon, then a slight chance of rain and snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 44. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around 27.
