Heavy Thunderstorms, Colder Temps To Hit Chicago Area

A few stronger thunderstorms are possible Tuesday night, with hail and gusty winds possible.

ILLINOIS — Rain will soon move into the area on Tuesday, before storms on Tuesday night and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers will develop Tuesday afternoon, with steady rainfall expected, the weather service said.

Storms are also possible Wednesday, especially before 1 p.m., according to the weather service. It will also be breezy with gusts as high as 30 mph, and new rainfall could be between 1/3 to a 1/2 inch.

AccuWeather also called for "a couple of showers and a heavy thunderstorm" on Wednesday. The forecasting agency gave a 97 percent chance of precipitation, with more than half an inch of rain expected.

The high for Wednesday will be 69 degrees, but colder temperatures will move into the area on Wednesday night.

According to the weather service, temps in the 50s are expected for the end of the week, with a high of 55 on both Thursday and Friday.
