Tornadoes, Storms Possible If Temps Heat Up In Chicago Area: NWS

A few rounds of storms are possible Thursday and into Thursday evening.

ILLINOIS — Another day of severe weather is possible, especially if temperatures heat up on Thursday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

A couple rounds of storms are possible Thursday into Thursday evening. If clouds or rain keep temps cooler, then the severe threat will be greatly reduced, the weather service said.

The expected high for the day is 81 degrees.

"If [the] atmosphere become supportive of severe weather, then tornadoes, large hail, and perhaps locally damaging winds would be possible with severe storms," the weather service said.

AccuWeather said the high for Joliet on Thursday will be 75 degrees. The private forecaster gave a 53 percent probability of thunderstorms, and said storms "can bring hail and damaging winds."
