Stormy Start To The Week Before Sunny Weather In Illinois

Isolated to scattered storms are possible Monday afternoon and evening, mainly south of I-80.

ILLINOIS — Monday will have lingering showers and storms, before the weather dries out for most of the week.

The National Weather Service said Monday will also feature a "sharp gradient" in temperatures from north to south. There is a high of 66 for areas north of Interstate 80, and a high of 77 for areas south of I-80.

AccuWeather gave a high of 73 for Joliet on Monday. The private forecaster said there is a 60 percent probability of thunderstorms, and .99 inches of rain is possible.

After storms end on Monday, weather is expected to be dry and sunny through Thursday afternoon.

Tuesday will have a high of 73, Wednesday a high of 77 and Thursday a high of 81 degrees, according to the weather service.

There is a chance of storms Thursday night, and rain is likely on Friday to end the work week. Right now, the weekend also looks to be rainy, and possibly stormy, according to the weather service.
