Unseasonably Cold Weather, Frost For Chicago Area This Week

Temperatures will be more like mid- to late October than September, the weather service says.

ILLINOIS — Cooler weather is here to stay this week, as temperatures in the 60s are expected all week, according to the National Weather Service.

NWS said residents should expect unseasonably cool weather, with "temps more like mid-late Oct than late September."

Monday has a high of 66 degrees, and will be breezy with gusts up to 30 mph, the weather service said. Tuesday has a high of 63, and again will be gusty, with winds up to 25 mph.

Lake effect showers are possible Tuesday night into Wednesday, mainly for parts of northwest Indiana, the weather service said.

Storms are possible Wednesday near the lake, but it should be dry away from the lake with a high of 62 degrees, according to the weather service.

Tuesday night and Wednesday night will have low temps in the 30s, and patchy frost is possible, the weather service said. Sensitive plants could be affected.

Thursday will have a high of 65, and will be sunny. Friday will be the warmest day of the week, with a high of 67 degrees, according to the weather service.

AccuWeather called for a high of 60 degrees on Thursday, and said it will be sunny with some clouds. Friday will have a high of 65, with "plenty of sunshine," according to AccuWeather.
