Tornado, Wind And Hail Threat With Possible Severe Storms Thursday For Chicago Area

Severe storms are possible Thursday, bringing a threat of damaging winds, damaging hail and isolated tornadoes, the National Weather Service shared.

The weather service said the severe threat is mainly in the afternoon and evening hours on Thursday, and advised staying up-to-date on the forecast.

"All severe hazards will be possible along with heavy rainfall which could lead to localized flooding," the weather service said on its Facebook.

In addition to storms on Thursday, several waves of showers and storms are expected through Saturday, according to the current forecast.

The high on Thursday is 76 degrees, 76 on Friday, 66 on Saturday and 52 degrees on Sunday.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Showers likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 a.m. Temperature rising to around 45 by 5 a.m. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

THURSDAY: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 72. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
