Severe Storms Could Hit Twice Monday In Illinois

The first round of thunderstorms could move into the area between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Monday.

ILLINOIS — Two rounds of severe weather are possible on Monday as thunderstorms approach the area, according to the National Weather Service.

The first round will move into the area between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., mainly along and north of Interstate 80, the weather service said.

Scattered storms will move from west to east during the first round Monday morning, the weather service said. The main threats will be damaging winds and frequent lightning.

The second round of possibly severe weather would then be between 5 and 11 p.m., mainly along and east of Interstate 55, according to the weather service.

These storms would also have a threat of damaging winds, hail and localized flooding.

The weather service said the in-between time of the two rounds of severe weather could still have storms; there will just be less coverage.

After storms on Monday, the rest of the week looks to be mostly sunny and dry. According to the weather service, temps will be in the 80s all week.
