Storm Chances All Week For Chicago Area

Temps will be in the mid-80s, and there's a chance of rain or storms for most of the week.

ILLINOIS — "Unsettled" weather will continue this week, as chances of rain and storms continue through mid-week, according to the National Weather Service. The forecast comes after Sunday brought more tornadoes to parts of Illinois.

Temps will stay in the mid-80s almost all week, with a high of 79 on Monday, and a high of 84 degrees on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

While Monday started off rainy, cloudy skies are expected the rest of the day. Clouds and breezy winds will also keep temperatures in the 70s on Monday afternoon, the weather service said.

The National Weather Service also warned of dangerous swimming conditions along Lake Michigan beaches.

A stray afternoon thunderstorm is possible Tuesday afternoon, and again on Wednesday afternoon. Thursday should be sunny, but storms are possible again late Thursday night, the weather service said.

A chance of showers and storms will also close out the week on Friday.

Elsewhere in the country, a strong storm system could bring tornadoes and flash flooding to the northern mid-Atlantic region, as well as the upper Ohio and Tennessee valleys. Dangerous heat will also again set up in Texas and the Gulf Coast, with heat index values near 115.
