Rudy Rodriguez, Jr., of Oswego, took this photo in his backyard at the hummingbird feeder. "Every year I set up the feeder and sit outside and wait for them to show," Rodriguez tells Patch. "It actually took a while this year. I thought this year I might not get any...then this one showed up. I had to use a very high shutter speed to capture this shot."

Russell T. Sharp says he took this one recently at Rochelle Railroad Park, the first in America for people to watch operating trains, dedicated on Aug. 30, 1998. "A Model A and Model T antique 1920s vintage cars club dropped by to watch trains for a few hours. Most were from Rockford," Sharp said.

Joy Pascoe got this photograph of a monarch butterfly resting in Batavia.

Jennifer A. Thompson said the Fox River was closed due to a high water level when she took this photograph. "I love the sky reflection, it makes the flooding not look so bad," Thompson said.
