Watch Live: Trump Speaks At Illinois Steel Mill

The president will speak from U.S. Steel's Granite City mill after his administration called it a trade war "success story."

GRANITE CITY, IL — After taking part in a workforce development roundtable in Iowa, President Donald Trump will make his way to Illinois Thursday afternoon, where he's scheduled to address workers at U.S. Steel's mill in Granite City. Trump's visit comes during a week when the White House has been focused on highlighting "Made in America" products, including Lincolnshire-based Klein Tools.

Back in March, Trump announced a 25 percent tariff on steel imports and a 10 percent tariff on aluminum, and the administration has been highlighting U.S. Steel's Granite City mill as a success story when it comes to the trade war, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Workers were preparing for Trump's visit as of early Thursday afternoon, and it looked to be a packed house at the mill. The trip is Trump's first to Illinoissince he was elected.

U.S. Steel's Granite City plant is located in Southern Illinois, just about 10 miles from St. Louis.

Trump is scheduled to arrive in Illinois at around 2:15 p.m., when he will tour the Granite City Works Hot Strip Mill before departing for the Granite City Works Steel Coil Warehouse. He's expected to deliver his remarks on trade at 2:40 p.m. You can watch a live stream of the event below.
