Widespread Rain, Storms Expected For Chicago Area: NWS
A few of these storms could be become strong to severe, according to the National Weather Service.
ILLINOIS — Showers and storms, some possibly severe, are expected to roll in late Wednesday afternoon through Thursday in the Chicago area. According to the National Weather Service, the scattered showers and storms may occur north of Interstate 80 this afternoon and evening.
Sunny weather will produce temperatures in the high 50s for Wednesday afternoon. Temperatures are predicted to stay about the same until a 10-degree dip Friday.
With regard to the inclement weather, more widespread rain and storms will move into the area overnight into Thursday morning, according to NWS. All thunderstorms will produce lightning strikes and downpours, as well as the possibility of damaging winds and hail.

If the Thursday morning rain and storms don't become too "detrimental," weather prognosticators believe another round of storms could happen Thursday afternoon or evening, but they say this scenario "isn't likely."
