$1M Bail For Men Charged In 2017 Arson, Murder

KANE COUNTY, IL — Three years after a 36-year-old man was found dead inside a home following a fire near East Dundee, authorities have filed charges against two men in connection with the man's murder. Mahmood Roohani, 30, of West Chicago, and Miguel Cruz-Tinajero, 34, of Carpentersville, each face three counts of first-degree murder as well as aggravated arson and concealment of a homicidal death charges in connection with the death of Vesel Vejseli, authorities said Monday.

Vejseli's body was found after authorities were called to a residence in the 15N300 block of Richardson Drive in unincorporated Dundee at about 3:30 a.m. on June 7, 2017, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office. After completing an x-ray on his body, the Kane County Coroner's Office determined Vejseli had been shot several times.

A lengthy homicide investigation followed, which lead to charges being filed against Roohani and Cruz-Tinajero.

Bail has been set at $1 million for Cruz-Tinajero who he remains in custody at the Kane County Judicial Center, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office Facebook page. He is expected in court on Wednesday for his initial court appearance.

Bail has also been set at $1 million for Roohani who is being held at the DuPage County Jail in an unrelated case. His initial court appearance has not yet been set.
