2 Crystal Lake Men Seriously Injured In Route 31 Crash

The crash happened Thursday morning on Route 31 in Dundee Township.

DUNDEE TOWNSHIP, IL — Two Crystal Lake man were seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash on Route 31 in Dundee Township.

The collision happened at 11:35 a.m. Thursday when a Chevrolet Camaro attempted to pass vehicle while southbound on Route 31 at Lundstorm Lane in Dundee Township. The Camaro lost control and hit a northbound Volkswagen sedan. The sedan then hit a third vehicle.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 46-year-old Crystal Lake man, and the driver of the Camaro, a 36-year-old Crystal Lake man, both suffered life-threatening injuries and were taken to local hospitals, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

Both drivers are expected to be flown to hospitals for further treatment, according to the news release.

The occupants of the third vehicle were treated and released at the scene.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the collision, police said.
