2 Teens Killed In Wauconda Crash

A BMW collided with a dump truck last week in Wauconda. The teens, both from Barrington, later died at a suburban hospital.

WAUCONDA, IL — Two Barrington teens are dead following a collision in Wauconda involving a BMW car and a dump truck. The two-vehicle crash happened in the northbound lanes of Route 12 just south of Case Road at 1:35 p.m. on Sept. 25 when a red BMW 325i collided with a Mack dump truck in the 29000 block of Route 12, according to a news release from the Lake County Coroner's Office.

Authorities say the BMW ran into the back of the dump truck, which was carrying a bulldozer, shortly after the truck pulled out of a private driveway, according to the news release.

The driver of the BMW, Aria Albertelli, 19, and a passenger in the car, a 16-year-old girl, were initially taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in critical condition. They later died, Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper said in a statement Thursday.

Both teens died as a result of blunt force trauma from a crash, Cooper said. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Wauconda Police Department and the coroner's office.
