Coroner IDs 2 Women Killed In Algonquin Crash
The crash happened Sunday afternoon on Route 62 at Sandbloom Road in Algonquin.

ALGONQUIN, IL -- The coroner has identified the two drivers killed in a crash on Route 62 on the east side of Algonquin Sunday afternoon. Elizabeth A. Jay, was traveling east on Route 62 just west of Sandbloom Road at about 3:12 p.m. when her vehicle crossed into the westbound lane of traffic. Jay's vehicle struck two other vehicles.
One of the drivers in a westbound vehicle, Louise J. Schreiner, 78, of Algonquin, was pronounced dead at the scene. Jay was taken Centegra Medical Center in Huntley where she was pronounced dead at 3:48 p.m., Anne Majewski, McHenry County Coroner, said in a news release.
A third driver in the crash was taken to a hospital for treatment.

An autopsy performed on Jay revealed she died from blunt force trauma to the chest, Majewski said. An autopsy showed Schreiner died from blunt force trauma to the head, neck and chest.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team, the Algonquin Police Department and the McHenry County Coroner's Office.
