5 Girls Seriously Injured In Weekend Crash Remain Hospitalized: Police
The crash happened west of Huntley. An Arlington Heights teen is in critical condition and four other girls remain hospitalized.

KANE COUNTY, IL — Five teens were seriously injured in a collision west of Huntley early Saturday, and all of the teens remain hospitalized as of Monday morning, authorities told Patch. One of the teens, a 16-year-old Arlington Heights girl, is in critical condition.
The collision happened when a 2019 Honda HR-V heading east on Dietrich Road near Brier Hill Road in unincorporated Hampshire Township hit a tree on the north side of the road at about 2:50 a.m., according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
All five juveniles were taken to area hospitals with life-threatening injuries following the collision, authorities said. Here is the latest on their conditions as of Monday morning:

- The driver, a 16-year-old Arlington Heights girl, was airlifted to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she remains Monday morning, authorities told Patch. She is currently in critical condition.
- A 15-year-old Arlington Heights girl, who was a front seat passenger in the car, was first taken to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley and then airlifted to Comer Children's Hospital in Chicago. She remains hospitalized Monday morning, according to Susan Deuchler, public information officer for the Kane County Sheriff's Office.
- A 15-year-old Huntley girl and a 16-year-old Huntley girl in the car were first taken to Sherman Hospital. The younger teen was then transferred to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital and the older teen was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. They both also remain hospitalized Monday morning, authorities said.
- A 15-year-old Elk Grove Village girl was first taken to Northwestern Medicine in Huntley and then transferred to Comer Children's Hospital. She also remains hospitalized as of Monday morning, according to police.
Authorities said an investigation into the crash is ongoing, and it's unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the collisions.
Sheriff's office detectives and social workers have been in touch with the families of all the girls, authorities said Sunday. They are also notifying the schools where the girls attend in case additional support and counseling is needed for any of their acquaintances, according to a news release.
