8 year old strives to break record

8 year old Avery Watterson is trying to break the record for the most money raised by a child for "Walk for the Bear" for pediatric cancer!

8 year old Avery had heard the word “cancer”, but didn’t really know what it meant. She recently saw some statistics about childhood cancer, and how many kids die each year. Rather than turning away from the problem, she said “what can I do to make a difference?”. She and her mom did some research, and found Bear Necessities.

Avery has started “Team Avery” as part of our 3rd Annual “A Walk for the Bear”, and is currently our top youth fundraiser, and captain of our #2 fundraising team.

To accelerate her fundraising efforts, she had a garage sale last weekend (with various items donated from neighbors) and she made $319 to put towards her goal!

You can make a difference for kids with cancer too!
