A Great Place in the Neighborhood

Annie and crew visited Applebee's, 251 North Randall Road in Lake in the Hills.

With more than 1,500 national and international restaurants and the slogan of There’s No Place Like The Neighborhood, I knew it would not be too long before I was reviewing our local Applebee’s.

Known for being the largest casual-dining chain in the world, the Applebee’s we visited is located at 251 North Randall Road in Lake in the Hills.

My family had the opportunity to dine at Applebee’s twice in a three week period.

The first time was with my friend, Stacy, and her mom, Molly. The second time, several weeks later, was with my friend, Erika.

On our first visit, we ordered several appetizers to share – Spinach & Artichoke Dip, Chicken Quesadillas and the new Potato Twisters.  Everything came out piping hot and was tasty.  For our mains we ordered an A1 Burger, Cheeseburger Sliders and a Chicken Finger Basket. The kids ordered a Chicken Finger meal and a Hamburger meal off the kids menu.

Not one complaint about anything we ordered.  Our service that night was fantastic.

On our second visit we started with the Spinach & Artichoke dip again. It was just as good as it was on our previous visit. Our second visit entrees included: French Dip Sliders, Paradise Chicken Salad, Pasta & Meatball special and a steak with mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies.

Most of it was good. The salad was a bit too sweet, and the sauce on the pasta was a little odd. The kids ordered the same thing they had during their last visit. The adults were not interested in dessert, but the kids had cleaned their plates and wanted to order something.

They ordered Garbage Pails which are mini hot fudge sundaes with gummy worms crawling out of the top of the glass. The “dirt” in the Garbage Pail is crushed up Oreo cookies. My kids loved these.  Again, our service was great, although, it did feel like we were being pushed out the door at the end of our meal.

Applebee’s is a great neighborhood restaurant, especially for the kids. The kids menu is full of fun activities and as we were leaving, they handed the kids a balloon.

We would give our first visit 4.5 out of 5 stars and our second visit 4 out of 5 stars! Applebee’s is a great place in the neighborhood to reconnect with old friends!
