Acupuncturist Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Patients

BARRINGTON, IL — An acupuncturist in Barrington is accused of sexually assaulting three patients, and authorities are expecting more victims to come forward.

Kwan Chong, 63, of Palatine, has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and attempted criminal sexual assault for allegations he sexually assaulted patients who came to his Barrington office to undergo acupuncture treatments, authorities said. So far, three victims, ages 28, 60 and 61 years old, have come forward to police, David Dorn, chief of police for the Barrington Police Department, told Patch in an email response.

And authorities are expecting more victims to come forward.

"Due to the nature and facts related to the offense and the type of treatment being performed, we believe there is a strong possibility of additional victims," Dorn said.

According to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Chong is licensed to practice acupuncture in Illinois, and has never had his license revoked.
