Algonquin Area Public Library District Wins Prestigious Award

The Algonquin Area Public Library District (AAPLD) won the Club/Organization of the Year category for the third year in a row.

From AAPLD: A full house celebrated at the January 20 Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Business Awards Dinner held at the Turnberry Country Club in Lakewood. With awards given out in nine categories such as New Business of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Retail Business of the Year, businesses, organizations, and entrepreneurs were honored for their dedication to excellence and service to their community.

But no organization was more thrilled than the Algonquin Area Public Library District (AAPLD), which won the Club/Organization of the Year category for the third year in a row. AAPLD Executive Director Sara Murray and Assistant Director Carol Dolin were on hand to accept the award in person. “The Library is honored to receive this award, which reflects our commitment to our partnerships with community organizations and businesses to provide the best services to our community,” Murray says. “We are grateful that our community loves their library as much as they do.”

The process began with 50 businesses and organizations nominated for the awards by Chamber members at a Chamber event in June. Approximately 1,300 votes were cast via social media by area residents and business community members.

In addition to the awards ceremony, the event also featured a surprise appearance by Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner and his wife Diana Rauner. “I appreciate Governor Rauner taking time out of his schedule to speak at the awards gala,” Murray says. “His appearance was a wonderful addition to an already exciting evening.”

The Algonquin Area Public Library District has more than 23,000 cardholders and serves more than 40,000 residents in a 30-square-mile area including portions of Algonquin, Lake in the Hills, Cary, and Barrington Hills.
